Metal Safety Razor - this one has a butterfly opening - twist the bottom and put in the blade then twist shut. The thought of safety razors are a bit scary but the reality is they work very well and aren't scary at all, of course you will take it slow for a start until you get the hang of it then you will be away, a cleaner, closer shave!
With this one just make sure that before use it's nice and tight (if it's loose more of the blade will come out). The razor comes with 5 Blades (Astra, please specify if you would rather Shark brand). Extras can be purchased separately. Add a shaving soap for a discounted cost of $7.
A tip from the trenches: Use an elastic band to wrap around the handle again and again to make a grip. These can get slippery in the shower and get dropped!
They're great, I don't feel any resistance on my skin when I use it, compared to a plastic razor. Worth the swap, never going back
Honestly the best shave I've ever had, I can't recommend the product enough!
I have always wanted to buy a safety razor, and now that i own one im in love and regret now buying it ages ago.
First time using a safety razor. Easy to use and love that it gives a close shave.
As per suggestions I put a rubberband on the handle but I don't think need it. It took about 2 weeks or 6 uses to really feel like I'd got the hang of it. That second week I achieved the closest shaves because I was much more comfortable with it. Now I use it much like my old disposable-head razor, quickly with long strokes. Another tip I read was to tighten the blade up as far as you could go or it'll wriggle loose. I tried this: too tight and it'll bend the shape of the blade so it won't shave as close. After rinsing the razor (with the butterfly loosened off) I store it by hanging it in a little bag with the head facing down, in the hope any water that might have got into the bottom of the handle will leak back out. I'm comfortable with the short handle but I'll get a long handle one for my teen daughter. The beer soap is great! I smell dettol 😃 I tried both the soap and my old way with conditioner but The Dirty Hippy's soap is much better to shave with; it has great slip. Thanks so much!
